THE BCE & CE VS. BC & AD CONTROVERSY

BCE is an acronym which stands for the words “Before the Common Era” which replaces the term (which has been used for centuries) BC which is an acronym for the words “Before Christ”.
CE is an acronym for the words “Common Era” which replaces the term (which has been used for centuries) AD which is an acronym for the words “in the year of our [the] Lord.”

I preached this sermon because certain Christ-haters – some nominal religionists and many statist/humanists – have an agenda to, through academia, replace BC with BCE and AD with CE. This sermon goes into their motivations and the importance of our contending with their efforts. Preached on November 6th, A.D. 2005.

Tyrannicide

 

Tyrannicide is the act of killing a tyrant.  Tyrannicide has a long and distinguished history in the epic of mankind.  Many Christian men of old wrote of such matters, debated and discussed such matters, and even acted in regard to such matters.  This sermon examines the treatise written in 1556 by churchman John Ponet.  The title of his treatise is – A Short Treatise of Political Power and of the True Obedience which Subjects Owe to Kings and Other Civil Governors with an Exhortation to all True Natural Englishmen.  The sermon examines one chapter of the treatise which is entitled – Whether it be Lawful to Depose an Evil Governor and Kill a Tyrant.

Best of Citizens

This sermon demonstrates why Christians are the best of citizens a nation can have.
The main point stressed is that Christians have allegiance to Christ first, therefore when the State makes unjust, tyrannical decrees, Christians resist the State because of their allegiance to Christ, thus benefiting the rest of the nation. July 2004 30 min.
